Both the Diploma of Leadership and Management (BSB50420) and the Certificate IV in Leadership and Management (BSB40520) are national qualifications recognised throughout Australia giving employers an assurance of the level of competency a person holds for a specific Leadership role. Written in consultation with sector experts, employers and training specialists it reflects the current skills and knowledge a competent leader should possess. It sets up a career advancement plan and pathway to higher education and career development.

MODAL’s unique approach to the leadership and development accredited programs see participants take the formal learning and guided learning provided in the program, and apply it in real time to projects and teams within their current workplace.

This real-time approach harnesses the 70:20:10 principle for learning and development which outlines that for a real impact to occur – the 10% of formal learning has to be accompanied by a significant (70%) amount of experience and also guided coaching (20%). MODAL has identified that the most significant and positive changes occur to participants when their 10% of formal learning is strongly supported by real time experience (relevant to their current role) and guided mentorship.

It is suitable for:

  • Individuals who apply knowledge, practical skills and experience in leadership and management across a range of enterprise and industry contexts.
  • Individuals who use initiative and judgement in planning, organising, implementing and monitoring their own workload and the workload of others.

Certificate IV in Leadership and Management – BSB40520

It is suitable for:

  • Individuals working as developing and emerging leaders and managers within their organisation
  • Individuals responsible for their own performance, whilst also providing leadership guidance and support for others. They also have some responsibility for organising and monitoring the output of their teams

  • BSBLDR413 – Lead effective workplace relationships
